The last time I set foot in Asia was when I left, 4 years ago in 2013. I was really excited to go back! We decided to take a whole month off in April. I was a bit worried/anxious, but to be honest, I didn’t see the month go by. Why do vacations always feel so short? 🙂

We planned two weeks in Japan 🇯🇵, one week in Seoul 🇰🇷 and one week in Beijing 🇨🇳. If I had to plan this trip again, maybe I would skip some towns in Japan to be less rushed: we took the train almost every day in Japan.

This was the beginning of April, a very high season because of the cherry blossoms 🌸. Now that I have marked this off my bucket list, I will avoid going to Japan during peak season, haha! We ended up at 1700 CAD per person for plane tickets (Montreal – Tokyo – Seoul – Beijing – Montreal), and around 3400 CAD per person for spendings during that month (accommodation, food, visits, etc).

Our itinerary in Japan

To plan a trip to Japan, you will need a Japan Rail Pass (the train is probably the best transportation method in Japan) and HyperDia which has all the train timetables and routes.

*The list of Korean food I love is really too long and I couldn’t eat everything I wanted to eat.
