Back from the holiday break 🙂 A few weeks ago I shared the list of Montreal restaurants that made the “Canada 100 Best” rankings. We’ve had the opportunity to try a few of them over the past weeks and I wanted to share my experience for each of them!
A discreet restaurant near Lucien L’Allier station and the Centre Bell. It was so dark in the restaurant, at first sight from the street, I thought it was closed!
We had the côte de boeuf for two. I wanted to try the other items on the menu but a côte de boeuf is always so tempting! The meat was very tasty, but I wasn’t impressed by the sides. The last côte de boeuf we shared was at Chez Mathilde, a restaurant in Tadoussac, and the sides of vegetables were amazing.
For dessert, I had the hazelnut and chocolate tart, it was excellent. I wanted to order another one to go, haha.
I would go back, it’s a good affordable italian restaurant and there are so many dishes to try. I feel bad for ordering that côte de boeuf 😛 The menu changes pretty regularly too!
One thing I felt right away when I set foot in l’Express is Paris. It felt like I was in a Parisian bistro! L’Express serves traditional French cuisine.
I ordered a pot au feu: it was good but if I’m being honest I prefer the one my dad cooks 😅 There was not enough broth and it was not served on the side.
The rillettes were really good though. It’s a good restaurant but I don’t know if I’d return?
We went to Maison Boulud for a Sunday brunch, the weekend before my birthday. The decor and ambiance is awesome, it’s a super nice setting, and the sitting is comfortable as well. Like at Toqué, the staff was really nice.
Brunch option consists of two or three course (44 or 54$). We only ordered two course because I didn’t want to eat too much, we had another restaurant (Montreal Plaza) scheduled on my birthday a few days later 😅
